Your role counts

The worst natural disaster in our country’13, Uttarakhand still lies trapped in the destructive floods and landslides, which is making it more miserable for people to survive even. The disaster that ended lives of several people and those alive, are ruined. Not only the people of that area, but people from all over the world are suffering, who came for pilgrimage to Badrinath and Kedarnath. To add to the misery, Foggy and overcast conditions in Dehradun have delayed take off by many choppers who are helping the victims and the conditions are worsening day by day. The people who are waiting for rescue are going through hell, praying for one more day in their life. The Government no doubt is helping the victims, providing them with medicines, clothes, food items, utensils, building materials etc but is the help enough? Is the help provided sufficient to satisfy everyone? Sadly, the answer is no!
I request each and every one to stand up and contribute as much as one can. There are several help line numbers on Google, which will definitely help the needy people. Not for everyone, but we can do our bit, and we should – for our country, for our people. And for those who passed away, may their soul rest in peace.

The completeness factor

School, the most amazing and wonderful place to learn, grow and have fun. It is the school only where a girl becomes a woman and a boy transforms into a man, if the education imparted is at its best. But has someone ever thought how vast can this education circle be? Education doesn’t always mean teaching lessons. Is the overall education of a child accomplished with his full marks and top grades. I surely believe that many people will agree with me on this notion that lessons and studies alone will not fetch students till the end or after the school, but it is the moral and ethical values which will really help them in building their career and broadening their thinking; rightly said “kaabil bano, kamyabi jakh mar ke piche aaegi” ( be capable, success will automatically follow you). I have visited many schools in Jammu, where except for teaching lessons and taking classes, students are not provided with any co-curricular activities, extra classes for drama, culture or any other sports. Sometimes students suffer because they miss out many opportunities to socialize, acquire knowledge, and gain the skills and sense of autonomy which are needed to improve their personal well-being. Many activities and facilities have to be improved; children should know the actual meaning of a healthy environment. They should be taught in a way so that they realize the need of the country, the benefits of an honest and corrupt free environment and the respect in being a true man. Just think, if schools could commit to this philosophy, what miraculous wonders it can make happen.

Gender Gap continues...

In today’s technological world where everything happens as fast as a blink of an eye, where high spirited people reside and where anything to everything is attainable, but somewhere between this whole wide  world, there also exists a small world where people still hold the notion that men are more superior than women, whatever the reason might be. The major evidence being Gender Gap which is widening every month, every year. Regardless of the fact that genetic selection has been abolished, still many people opt for this act. As per I perceive, It largely depends upon the culture, the mentality of some people which takes control over other surrounding people,  As it is rightly said by someone “ one dirty fish spoils the whole water”. I don’t understand the people, they themselves seem very confused, at one point they want to be modern, stylish, use smartphones, eat at McDonalds, KFC but on the other side, and they are not ready to accept a girl, just because of a rubbish silly reason that they can’t multiply their parentage, which is obviously not true.

Since the time began, men and women never understood the relation between the two; it has been made a fact, that they both are not equal. Females are termed as oppressed class, the ones who should know cooking, cleaning, looking after kids and this long list continues and men being the superior class who enjoys all the luxuries and legacies. Why this inequality? The question was always unanswered and will always remain the same.

ill fated Children

The problem of child labour is still in motion despite of so many laws made, which are trying to tackle it. India is the largest home to these child labours. According to a recent study more than 12 million children are still employed in jobs amongst which some of the jobs are hazardous like working in silk factories, bangle industries, coal mines etc. Adding to the difficulty, most children are employed at dhabas, labour work, at households. The main factors which contribute to the negligence towards the laws are low income, Low literacy levels, ignorance to exposure, national security and backwardness in society. These poor, impoverished people just want a source of income, to survive, to live a normal life. I have myself seen young kids working as fruit vendors or collecting garbage, sweeping the roads, distant from the word “education”. The persistence to child labour is due to the inefficiency of the law, administrative system and because it benefits employers who can reduce general wage levels. There is requirement for strict check, well organized and capable laws which can judiciously look upon these unfortunate children.
