ill fated Children

The problem of child labour is still in motion despite of so many laws made, which are trying to tackle it. India is the largest home to these child labours. According to a recent study more than 12 million children are still employed in jobs amongst which some of the jobs are hazardous like working in silk factories, bangle industries, coal mines etc. Adding to the difficulty, most children are employed at dhabas, labour work, at households. The main factors which contribute to the negligence towards the laws are low income, Low literacy levels, ignorance to exposure, national security and backwardness in society. These poor, impoverished people just want a source of income, to survive, to live a normal life. I have myself seen young kids working as fruit vendors or collecting garbage, sweeping the roads, distant from the word “education”. The persistence to child labour is due to the inefficiency of the law, administrative system and because it benefits employers who can reduce general wage levels. There is requirement for strict check, well organized and capable laws which can judiciously look upon these unfortunate children.
